WOOSTER – Florence E. SPROSTY of Wooster passed away October 19, 2008 in Glendora Health Care Center.
She was born in Lakewood, OH, daughter of George C. and Florence E. Brown Mason.
She was a graduate of West Tech High School and St. Lukes School of Nursing earning her registered nursing degree. Florence worked in the development of the Diabetic Clinic at Wooster Community Hospital and retired as a staff nurse for Veterans Administration. In 1982 she received a meritorious award from the American Medical Association for her work in Diabetes and participed in a tour of China and Russia to help foster mutual goals towards diabetes healthcare. Florence was a Girl Scout Leader, member of Junior Womens Club, P.E.O. sisterhood and St. James Episcopal Church.
A Memorial Service is scheduled November 1, 2008 at St. James Episcopal Church, Wooster at 10:30 A.M.
McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family with arrangements.
Florence is survived by her daughter, Pamela J. Sprosty of Tappan, NY, son, Chuck (Toni) Sprosty of Wooster. Her grandson, Christopher Sprosty, brother George (Barb) Mason, sisters, Jean Novatny and Edith Delarusso, nephews David, Doug, and Dwight (Calli) Novatny, Charlie, Mark (Melody) and Jim Mason, Dale (Barbara) and Terry Sprosty, nieces Jody (Alan) Hayslip, Candace Novatny and Paula Cartwright, her former husband and loyal friends Ray and Nancy Sprosty.
She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Jennifer Sprosty and her brother Lee Mason.
Many thanks to Drs. John Miller and Cyril Ofori and the Staff at Glendora Health Care Center and Hospice for the remarkable care and compassion for Florence as well as her many friends and beloved P.E.O. sisters.
