Flossie Richardson 95, of Wooster, OH, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2009, at the
Brenn-Field Nursing Center where she had lived for the past seven years.
She was born January 15, 1914 in Hardinsburg, Kentucky to Albert and Geneva (Board) Sutton
and came to Wooster in 1935 when she married the late Jacob Richardson who died in 1964.
Flossie and her husband were life-time members of Second Baptist Church. The Richardson’s
worked with the youth of the church where Mrs. Richardson also sang in the Women’s Chorus
and was an active participant in the Friendly Ten, a Church affiliated social club. She was a
member of the League of Women Voters, Wooster Chorale, a group that gathered to read in
unison for various functions in Wooster and other related activities. Mrs. Richardson also
served as President the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) when her daughters attended
Pittsburgh Avenue School and other organizations when they attended Wooster High School.
She retired from Apple Creek Developmental Center, Apple Creek, OH.
After the death of her husband, Mrs. Richardson moved to Cleveland, OH and worked as a
Teachers Aide at East Technical High School. She retired again after 18years of service at the Helen Brown Senior Center in East Cleve1and, OH.
Surviving are daughters, Barbara J. Caffie of Cleveland/Wooster, OH and Geri Stewart of
Austin, TX Grandmother to Brian &Lori Hollins (Hall), Douglas (Caffie), Traci (Adams) and
Dionn (Schaffner) Stewart Great-grandmother to Leah &Bethany Hollins (Brian) Marjani &
Jordan Hall (Lori & Alfonzo), Menkaure & Nailah Adams (Tracy & Leonard) Shay & Devon
Schaffner (Dionn & Scott), great-great grandmother to Ryan Hollins (Brian) in addition to
numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 28, 2009, from 6?8p.m., at the Mclntire Davis and Greene Funeral Home, 216 East Larwill Street, Wooster. Visitation on Saturday, August 29, 2009, from 9:OOa.m.- 10:OO a.m.at Second Baptist Church, Wooster, Ohio followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 10:OO a.m.
