WOOSTER - Frances R. BONITZ, 84, of Wooster, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the Wayne Co. Care Center.

She was born March 10, 1933 in Pleasant Mt., PA,  the daughter of Willis H. and Ruth Cassidy Barnes.  She married Howard J. Bonitz Sr. on January 29, 1955.  He survives.

Frances was a graduate of the Scranton State Hospital School of Nursing and had worked as a registered nurse at Wooster Community Hospital retiring in 1980.  She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her children, Patricia (Jim) Phipps and Howard J., Jr. (Mary) Bonitz both of Wooster; grandchildren, Gayle, Joshua (Mandi) and Jillian Phipps and Ryan (Stephanie) Bonitz ; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Phipps and Cooper Phipps;  a brother Leon (Barbara) Barnes of Clifton Township, PA and a sister-in-law Shirley Bishop of Pottstown, PA.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Willis, Kermit, Douglas and John Barnes.

A memorial services will be held at the Wayne Co. Care Center, 876 S. Geyers Chapel Rd., Wooster on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Ann Paynter officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service.

McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wayne Co. Care Center Auxiliary or LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.

My dear friends, I'm so very sorry to hear of Frances' passing. I had the sincere pleasure to know and enjoy Frances, especially when she volunteered for the accounting department at WCH. Sorry to hear of your loss. Am keeping you in my prayers. I know the family from working at WCH. I worked with Fran. I recently had talked with Patti in the ER and had heard the Fran had fallen.

Howard and Patti, you and your families have my deepest sympathy. Your Mom was such a gracious lady and will be missed. I was surprised when I saw her at the hospital a few years ago and she remembered me right away. We grew up on the best street in Wooster.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have known your mother for a long time. Working with her at the hospital and then at the bank.

Also Howard Jr. as we worked together for many years at Wooster Community Hospital and I enjoyed having Howey in my department. Frances had retired by the time I started but she was there at the hospital often.
