FREDERICKSBURG – Frederick W ACKERMAN, 85, of Fredericksburg, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2010 in his home.
He was born November 1, 1924 in Wooster, the son of Henry Paul and Mary Long Ackerman. He married Dorothy Baker on June 20, 1948. She died July 15, 1989.
He was a lifetime farmer and had worked at the Timken Company after being discharged from the military. He attended the Moreland United Methodist Church, was a member of the Fredericksburg American Legion, an honorary member of the Triway FFA and he enjoyed farming, going to antique auctions and he loved his dogs and cats. Frederick served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII.
Surviving are his children, William C Ackerman of Wooster, Ronald E. (Susan) Ackerman of Wooster, Thomas L. (Juleah) Ackerman of Shreve, Lloyd P. (Lilia) Ackerman of Wooster, Nancy (Dan) Burkhart of Wooster, Victoria J.. (Wayne) Pruitt of Wooster, Dale R Ackerman of Fredericksburg, Susan K. (Andy) Morris of Vanleer, TN, James R. (Kathy) Ackerman of Fredericksburg, and Amy L. (John) Scott of Fredericksburg; 22 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Sam Ackerman of Wooster, sisters, Priscilla Mandolin of Wooster and Mildred Morgan of Nevada.
Frederick was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Henry Paul & Oscar Ackerman, sister, Ruth Scott.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Sunday, May 2, 2010 from 6-9:00 P.M.
Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday, May 3, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Hospice Chaplain Enid Schloneger officiating. Interment will follow in the Moreland Cemetery.
