WOOSTER “ Gerald œJerry  Anthony Meyer, 93, of Wooster passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at LifeCare Hospice.
Jerry was born June 22, 1925 in Wooster, the son of Herman and Blanche Walter Meyer.   He graduated from Wooster High School in 1943.   He served as a Corporal in the US Marine Corps in the 5th Amphibious H & S Battery from 1943-1946 and saw conflict at Leyte Gulf in the Philippines.
Jerry married Donna Jean Grassman April 19, 1952.  He helped to build the house where they resided for 66 years.   He worked for Local Plumbers and Pipefitters Union 219 in Akron for 50 years.   He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where he sang in the choir and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Jerry loved his family, babies, singing, reading, dancing, swimming and gardening.   He was a handyman who could fix almost anything.   His quick wit always brought laughter.
Surviving is his wife, Donna, daughters, Debra Ann (Charles Totten) Meyer of Columbus, Mary Anne Mottmiller (Russ) of Wooster, Rita Diane Flanagan (Ray) of Burbank; his siblings, Joseph, Marcelline Grassman Trares (Bob) of Wooster, Raymond of Hardy, VA; sister-in-law Doris Meyer of Wooster; grandchildren, Steven and Ryan Mottmiller, Stefanie Mottmiller Richardson (Ben), Ian and Jay Flanagan, Brittany and Aleata Meyer; great-grandchildren, Lillian, Finley, Oliver Richardson, Emily Mottmiller, Lycan, Rylan and Onyx Meyer, his favorite cat œMr. Kittles ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerry was predeceased by his son, Steven, foster son Dick Chenevey, brothers Robert and Leon and sisters-in-law, Dorothy, Catherine and Mary Meyer and his favorite dog, Buffy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Stephen Moran on Friday, November 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster.   Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
Friends will be received Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 6-8:00 p.m. with a rosary by the Knights of Columbus at 5:30 p.m. at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster, OH 44691 or to the Wayne Co. Humane Society, 1161 Mechanicsburg Rd., Wooster, OH 44691 or to Ohio ™s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
