WOOSTER – Harold Lee BALLINGER, 70, of Wooster, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010 in his home.
He was born December 13, 1939 in Glovers Gap, WV, son of John T and Beryl Rice Ballinger.
He was retired having worked at Akron Brass, Regal Ware and the Baurer Corp. He was also active with the Smithville Fire Dept joining in 1963 serving as chief from 1970-1975 and again from 1979-1982. He retired from the Department in 1982. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving are wife, Nancy Dakin Ballinger; his children, Diana (Larry) Strong of Shreve, Joyce (Ronnie) Campbell of Grafton, Mike (Kim) Ballinger of Suffolk, VA, Thomas (Melanie) Ballinger of Orrville, and Christine Smail of Wooster; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; his siblings Grace (Lindsay) Jackson of New Concord, Larry (Susie) Ballinger of Fairmount, WV and Jerry Bekeleski of Akron.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Paul, Johnny and Eugene Ballinger and sisters, June Kiger and Helen Snider.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Sunday, May 16, 2010 from 3-7:00 P.M.
Services will be held at Funeral Home on Monday, May 17, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Travis Strong officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Greater Wayne Co., 2525 Back Orrville Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
