WOOSTER – Harold Wilson Pete MOWRER, 89, of Wooster passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2009 in Wooster Community Hospital.
He was born March 16, 1920 in Wooster the son of Harry Wilson Hab and Dale Barnes Mowrer.
He was a 1938 graduate of Chester High School and had been the owner and operator of Cedar Valley Hunting & Fishing Preserve for over 50 years. He had previously worked for Jones Construction. Pete was a member of the Masonic Lodge #398 of West Salem and had contributed to the Garfield Chapter #324 of West Salem Eastern Star. He was a 50 year member of the Wooster Moose Lodge and was a member of the Al Koran Temple of Cleveland and American Legion Posts #48 and 68. He loved hunting, fishing, guns and the people in his community. He served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII as an ambulance driver serving in Tunisia, Northern Appennines, Naples and Foggia earning 5 bronze stars.
Surviving are step-son, Charles Carmichael of Wooster; a sister, Volanda Julia Sis Mowrer of Wooster: nieces and nephews, Edward (Alana) Mowrer of CA, Linda (Jeff) Cherry of W. Salem, Nancy (Stan) Firebaugh of Wooster, Mary (John) Clark of Wooster, and Ira (Joetta) Mowrer of Wooster, OH; 2 step-grandchildren and a special friend Beulah Mowrer of Wooster.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Louise Martin Mowrer, in 1999 whom he married December 27, 1950; brothers, Lester Edward Ed Mowrer and Harry Wellington June Mowrer, Jr. and a step-son Frank Bud Carmichael.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Thursday evening from 6-8:00 P.M. with a Masonic Memorial Service at 5:30 P.M.
Services will be held at Funeral Home on Friday, May 1, 2009 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Robert Moskowitz officiating. Interment will follow in the Sherwood Memorial Gardens.

The family extends a special thanks to all the employees at Country Pointe Nursing Home for all their care and help.
