WOOSTER – Herbert Donovan Poling, 89, of Wooster passed away Thursday, July 9, 2009 in Sunrise Assisted Living.
He was born January 5, 1920 in Lancaster, the son of Carl and Dorothy Shimp Poling. On August 16, 1940 he married Betty Louise Snyder. She died in 1989.
He worked for East Ohio Gas Co. as the pipe yard manager retiring in 1972. He had attended Central Christian Church and served his country with U.S. Navy during WWII.
Surviving are his son, Terry (Diane) Poling of Clemmons, NC, a grandson, Marshall (Britaney) Poling, a sister, Jo Ellen Imler of Chillicothe and a nephew, Dr. Greg Imler of San Diego, CA.
Herbert was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster 1 hour prior to the 1:00 P.M. service on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 with the Rev. Kevin Phipps officiating. Entombment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
