WOOSTER – Howard J. BONITZ,Sr., 90, of Wooster passed away Monday, March 26, 2018   at the Wayne Co. Care Center.
He was born September 20, 1927 in Dunmore, PA, the son of Jacob and Helen Fells Bonitz.   He married Frances Barnes on January 29, 1955.   She preceded him in death on December 6, 2017.
He had worked at Diebold for 29 years and  then retired in 1996 after 10 years  from the purchasing  department at  Wooster Community Hospital.  
Surviving are his children, Patricia (Jim) Phipps and Howard J. Jr. (Mary) Bonitz both of Wooster; grandchildren, Gayle Phipps, Joshua (Mandi) Phipps, Jillian Phipps and Ryan (Stephanie) Bonitz, great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Cooper Phipps, sisters, Edna Calderone of Scranton, PA and Joan (Charles) Aten of Covington, GA.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Leroy and Ralph.
A memorial service will be held at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Ann Paynter officiating.   The family will greet friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, Ohio 44691 or to Wayne Co. Care Center, 876 S. Geyers Chapel Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
