Irmgret Soesemann, 90, of Wooster, died Friday evening April 17 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Irmgret was born in Gottingen, Germany in 1930 to Heinrich and Elisabeth Tannhof. Irmgret has a surviving brother Hans Dieter Tannhof and deceased brother Reinhard Tannhof. She married Gerhard Soesemann, deceased, in 1951. Irmgret came to Wooster with her husband and infant daughter in 1955 from Germany. She was a homemaker, a seamstress, a partner in the family business Gerhard ™s Pastries, and in her later years worked in the bakery in Buehler ™s Fresh Foods.
Irmgret was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. She was the family matriarch, role model and mentor for her daughters, granddaughters and extended family members. She was talented and creative and spent many hours sewing, knitting and crocheting.   She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends during weekly luncheons. She had an intellectual curiosity and especially appreciated being able to learn about worldwide news, events, history and culture on public television channels.
Surviving are Irmgret ™s brother and sister-in-law Hans Dieter and Marge Tannhof of Wooster, daughter and son-in-law Ann and Fritz Wise of Bristol, PA, daughter Petra Soesemann of Cleveland Heights, OH, granddaughters Bridgette Wise of Levittown, PA and Julia Wise of Bethlehem, PA. Irmgret ™s family is grateful for the TLC and special care provided by niece Angela Dorksen and nephew and niece Thomas and Ashley Tannhof, and for assistance from the Life Care Hospice of Ohio.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is planned for later in the summer at the Zion Lutheran Church.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

  2. Prayers sent up for strength and shared tender memories. She always had that welcoming smile and kindness. The first birthday party I ever attended as a youth and how she had everything adorned for her daughter Petra’s little party. She was so proud to be showering her and her little friends. A good memory of a very nice family. Bless you all at this time of loss.

  5. Her husband Gergard was our baker at Moore’s Bakery when he first arrived from Germany.. He was a great baker and fun to be around. My sincere thoughts and prayers to her and her family

  10. Wow – SO sorry to hear about Ann’s Mom passing. She died just 3 days before my Dad passed. They are at McIntire, Bradham, and Sleek together right now.
    I remember Ann’s Mom as being SO sweet and kind. She was a beautiful soul, and raised two great daughters. I surely know how tough it is to lose a parent – and I extend my heartfelt condolences to Ann and Fritz, your daughters, and the rest of your family.

  14. My heart felt condolences to Your Family. Your Mother was such a sweet person ! I used to call her Sweetheart,and she would smile and say , “my Husband called me that. Thank you for the memory. She was always a professional at at Buehlers. Just such a kind ,sweet Lady. Rest in peace, Sweetheart. My friend indeed.

  15. My sympathy to you, Annie and Petra. My husband and I knew your parents very well through 20-Club in the 60″s and 70’s.
    The Soesemanns were so loved by all. They spoke of you girls often and I remember both of you. Their baked goods were favorites of all of us. Your mother was such a kind and generous person. Sending comfort to your families.
