WOOSTER – Jack Cullen Clampitt ended his life ™s journey on February 9, 2018 at LifeCare Hospice of Wooster following a courageous battle with Parkinson ™s Disease.
Jack was born November 5, 1931 in New Castle, IN to William œBud  Clampitt and Lula Wood.   He lived in various places in Ohio during his childhood.   The family was living in Morrow, OH when his mother drowned in 1939.   Uncle Vaughn and Aunt Marie Johnson assisted with the raising of Jack and his two sisters until his father remarried Oma Newell and moved to the Wooster area.   He graduated from Wooster High School in 1949.   He served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953 during the Korean Conflict.   He returned to Wooster and his previous employer, Wooster Lumber Company.   He met and married Charlotte Martin on February 15, 1958.   They had two daughters:   Diane and Karen.   In 1964, Jack and his brother-in-law Tom Tieche built and opened Tom & Jack ™s Lounge on West Liberty Street and was a restaurant/business owner until 1973.   At that time, he began working at Ron Slivka Inc. as a salesman.   He became part-owner of the new dealership, Art Bucher Inc. in 1980 and retired from the car business in 1990.   He then sold real estate for Hal Franks Realty for several years and spent winters in Stuart, FL for 25 years.
Jack is survived by his wife, Charlotte, of 60 years; daughters, Diane Fink (Dan) of Grove City, OH and Karen DeCarli (Steve) of Salinas, CA; sister Miriam (Jack) Carmody of Stuart, FL; brother Craig (Dee) Clampitt of Columbia, MO; brother-in-law Oscar Metzger of Alliance, OH; two grandchildren of CA; four great-grandchildren of CA; and numerous nieces and nephews across the United States including Greg Tieche of Wooster.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his step-mother, Oma; in-laws Herschel and Ruth Martin; sister Jean Orem; brother Jim Clampitt; sister-in-laws Marceile Dundon and Geraldine Metzger; brother-in-laws Tom Tieche, Daryl Orem, and Lyle Martin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Stephen Moran on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church.   The burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery and a luncheon will be held at the church.   Visitation will be Monday, February 12, 2018 from 5 to 8 pm, with rosary by Knights of Columbus at 4:30 pm, at McIntire, Bradham, and Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill Street, Wooster, OH.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Avenue, Wooster, OH; Knights of Columbus Council 789, P.O. Box 1282, Wooster, OH; and LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Road, Wooster, OH.
