  12. It was so great to re-connect with you on Facebook within the last year. I will never forget your invitation to the prom: “Will you please go to the prom with me. My mom is bugging me to go.” I mean, who can say no to that? I did wonder why you were all about making sure your outfit was trendy and coordinated…I was slow, but I caught on. We had a great time!

    Of course, I fully intended to catch up with you either in Wooster or on one of my trips to Columbus. I so wish that would have happened. Wishing God’s peace to your spouse, your mom, and your sisters, and your Delta family.

  15. Dear Gary, Mrs. Monroe, all of James’ family, and friends;
    I’m so sorry for your loss. Chip was an absolute joy to work with at Delta. I flew several trips together with him over the years. He was an excellent Flight Attendant. A wonderful, sweet, kind man. With a great personality and hilarious sense of humor. He always told wonderful stories. We laughed a lot together at work.
    Please except my heartfelt sympathy. Myself and all Delta Detroit based Flight Attendants will surely miss Chip very much.
    Bless you all. Prayers. Karen Grados Delta Flight Attendant

  17. I will never forget James. He saved me from choking on the way home from school once. I got a starlight mint stuck in my throat and I couldn’t breathe. I started panicking and he went and got me a coke from the nearby gas station on Beall Avenue. The coke helped dissolve the mint and then I threw it all up. James was one of the nicest people I ever knew. He made you smile with his sunny personality. My condolences to his husband and family. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

  20. As I read all the positive things people have said about James, my brain is flooded with wonderful memories of this man. He is all and more than any one post can say. I graduated with James in 1985 and he always had a smile on his face and although not as outgoing as he became, he was fun to talk to. I wish I could have known him better. In death, I am sure he will continue to watch over Delta passengers and crew, helping God make sure everyone is safe, happy, and comfortable. What a guy you are my friend! You will be missed by so many. It’s my honor to say we were friends then, now, beyond and forever. Sincerely, Tom Zuller

  25. I am so deeply saddened at the loss of Jim, he truly was a light in my life. I met him at Kent State where we worked together – and I always loved being a on a shift with him, or having shenanigans when we weren’t working. After losing touch, it felt like such a gift when we reconnected. I was tickled to find that he could still make me laugh, it was as if no time had passed at all. My deepest condolences are going to his family — as I know he was dearly loved. I wish you all peace.

  29. Chip was a regular commuter between LGA-DCA for years, before transferring to the DTW base. He was truly one-of-a-kind and one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. I’m going to miss him so much!

  32. I am so shocked and saddened by the passing of Jim or “ Chip” as we all called him at Delta. He was always someone you looked forward to seeing and working with on the plane because of his enthusiasm and humor. I regret not knowing about his passing sooner. He will always be remembered by me as one of my favorite colleagues to work with. I extend my deepest sympathies to his husband and family at what must be a very difficult time.
