WOOSTER – Jane Rider Gompf, 99, of Wooster passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at West View Healthy Living in Wooster.
She was born December 29, 1919 in Massillon, the daughter of Fred and Mary F. Jarvis Rider. She married Jack Gompf in 1942. He preceded her in death on July 23, 2011.
Jane graduated from Massillon Washington High School in 1937 and from Miami University in 1941 where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. She had taught school in Sandusky, Massillon and Wooster. Jane was a member of the Women’s Service League, Trowel and Trellis Garden Club and Thursday Bridge.
Surviving are her sons, John (Linda) Gompf of Michigan and Phillip (Carole) Gompf of Maryland; a grandson, Jeff Gompf, a great-granddaughter, Tessa and step grandchildren, Nina and Ian Kirkpatrick.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Gompf in 1997.
There will be no calling hours and private family services will be held at a later date.
