WOOSTER – Jay Glenn Firebaugh, 88, of Wooster died peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, September 21, 2015 at his home.
He was born October 22, 1926 in Chester Twp. To George and Mary Lillian Coffman Firebaugh.   On May 14, 1950 he married Ellen Sutherland, who survives.
Jay was a dairy farmer, an artificial inseminator and raised and showed chinchillas.   He served his country during World War II in the Navy.   He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and had attended Mohican Church of the Brethren.   Jay loved sports and was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Holstein Association.
Along with his wife, Jay is survived by his children Anne (Pat) Hartel of Newcomerstown, Kathy (Ron) Gochnauer, Dawne (Jim) Staggs, Stan (Nancy) Firebaugh and Scott (Cindi) Firebaugh all of Wooster; 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; brothers John (Francille) Firebaugh of Columbus and Dan (Nina) Firebaugh of LaPorte, IN and a sister Miriam Vermillion of Canyon Creek, CA.  
Jay was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Toby Jay Firebaugh and siblings Wayne, Wyman, Lawrence, Virgil, Anne Baldridge and Della Daugherty.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 1:00 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with Pastor Paul Bartholomew officiating.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be directed to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to LifeCare Hospice staff for their excellent care and compassion shown for our loved one.
