WOOSTER – Jeanne K. Warren, 97, died March 2, 2008 at West View Manor in Wooster, Ohio.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at First Presbyterian Church in Wooster. Internment will be in Remsen, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that gifts be made in her memory to the Ohio Light Opera at the College of Wooster, Wooster, OH.
Jeanne was born September 3, 1910 in Omaha, Nebraska to Wilmer and Bessie Poston King. Her family moved to Dayton in 1912, where she graduated from Oakwood High School in 1928. Jeanne received a Bachelor of Music from Westminster Choir College in Ithaca, NY in 1932. She married Arthur E. Warren on July 8, 1933 at her parents’ home in Oakwood. He died in 1976.
She and Art lived in several New York State communities during his career as a school superintendent, the longest (1940-1961) in Canandaigua, NY. Following his retirement, they moved to Long Island for ten years before returning to the Finger Lakes area. Jeanne was a church choir director in Katonah, Canandaigua and Clifton Springs, and she also taught piano and organ students. She moved to Wooster in 1993, where she was a member of First Presbyterian Church, College Circle book and bridge clubs, and P.E.O. Sisterhood – Chapter DF. She enjoyed Ohio Light Opera performances and she was a fan of the College of Wooster men’s basketball team.
She is survived by children and their spouses, Jean (Frank) Knorr of Wooster, and Sue Ellen (Peter) Livesey of Frieth, England; two grandchildren Eric (Michelle) Knorr of Dayton and Elisabeth Knorr of Silver Spring, MD; and three great-grandchildren Jacob, Hannah and Lily Knorr of Dayton. Other survivors include a cousin Jean Vogelsang, and a special niece, Sue Warren.
