WOOSTER “ Jeri Lee Messner, 73, of Wooster passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2017 after a long and courageous battle.
She was born on November 7, 1943 in Barberton to Chucky and Betty Marie McCorkle.   She married Gary R. Messner on April 24, 1971 at St. Mary Catholic Church.   They were married by Father Elmar Marquard.   He survives.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a member of Catholic Daughters of America.   Jeri was a devoted and loving mother along with being an uncomparable grandmother.   She adored her grandchildren.   She was truly an amazing cook and enjoyed cooking for family and friends.   She was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steeler ™s fan and would defend them aggressively.   She also enjoyed her Boston Terrier Dogs.
Jeri retired from service with the Ohio Agricultural Technical Institute.
Surviving in addition to her devoted husband, Gary, are her daughters, Deanna Johnson and Joanne (Adam) Messner; grandchildren, Haylie (Josh) Polen and Jasaiah Messner along with very special nieces, Amy Morris and Karen Lawrence, some very special nephews and a sister, Joanne Burnley; special friends and cousins, Don and Linda Himmelright and a brother-in-law and special friend, Steve Messner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Jeanne Brooks and Karen Rogers and brother ™s Vance and Pat McCorkle, and aunts Violet and Evelyn and her best friend, Susan Simons.
Per Jeri ™s request, there will be no calling hours and private family services will be held.   Burial will be at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.
