John was born August 8, 1923 in Wayne County to Harry M. and Minnie Rosella Maurer Ogden and was a 1941 graduate of Chester High School
and served his country during WWII in the U. S. Navy for 4 years. He attended Roosevelt Aviation Academy on Long Island upon his discharge from the Navy where he met his wife Helen. On September 19, 1948, John married Helen in Long Island, New York and they returned to Ohio. She survives.
John was a long-time member of the 094 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union out of Canton, Ohio where he worked for more than 35 years before retiring. He loved camping, fishing Lake Erie and many locations in Canada. He will be mostly remembered as a perfectionist and it always
showed in his excellent woodworking. He has made many family heirlooms that will be that will be cherished and passed on for generations. He made beautiful doll houses for all three of his granddaughters and was also interested in making model planes from scratch. One of his last projects was a plane that he built with his grandson, Michael.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Helen, is a daughter Sharon (Richard) Berner and a son David (Bonnie) Ogden both of Wooster; grandchildren Jarrod Ogden of Maine, Shawn Berner of Seattle, Washington, Danielle Berner of Wadsworth, Ohio; Stephanie and Michael Ogden both of Wooster and one great-grandchild, Oliver. Brothers Robert (Annabelle) Ogden and Thomas (Pat) Ogden both of Wooster. Sisters Josephine Williams of Lancaster, Ohio and Alice Mae Andrew of Sarasota, Florida.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Larry and John Ogden, brothers Glenn and two infant brothers at birth.
The family wishes to thank all of the EMT staff that has responded over the past several years to the residence. Hospice and Palliative of Greater Wayne Co., Wooster Community Hospital and Ohio State University Hospitals for their excellent care and prayers for both John and the family. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him for many years to come.
