WOOSTER – John Larry Bud MONG, 68, of Wooster, passed away Monday, October 19, 2009 at the Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus.
He was born May 18, 1941 in Wooster, the son of John W. and Dorothy M. Strouse Mong.
He was a graduate of Wooster High School in 1959 and had been the assistant meat manager at the former Smith’s Grovery Store, the meat manager at the former Young’s IGA for 19 years and also in the bakery at Buehlers. He had been the Goodwill Wheels to Work coordinator for eleven years. A member of the Elks Lodge and enjoyed softball, volleyvall and trap shooting. He served on the Boards of the Exchange Club and the Kidney Foundation.
Surviving are his wife Bonnie L. Huxley Mong, whom he married January 13, 1984; his children Tony (Andrea) Mong of Berlin Heights, Tracy (Kim) Mong of Wooster, Shelly (Andy) Malta Wilson of Wooster, Donnie Malta of Wooster, Christopher (Camille) Malta of Wooster, sisters, Donna (Dean) Manson of Apple Creek, Linda (Harlan) Greegor of Wooster, Brother, Paul Mong of Wooster: grandchildren Josh Mong, Abby Dean, Jack and Gianna Mong, Tia Malta, Alexandra and Andrew Wilson, Dennis Raber, Cami and Ceilia Malta, great-grandchildren Ainsley and Macy Dean.
John was preceded in death by his parents. mother-in-law Arlene Huxley and Herb Poling.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Saturday, October 24, 2009 from 12:00 to 3:00 P.M.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. with the Rev. Ron Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Any car club buddies are invited to join the procession to the cemetery.
