WOOSTER “ Karen Elizabeth Carlton, 62, of Wooster passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster surrounded by her loving family after a two year battle with cancer.
She was born on July 5, 1955 in Wooster, the daughter of Maynard and Pearl Messmore Brown.   She married William Carlton in August of 1981.   He survives.
Karen graduated from Triway High School in 1973 and received an Associate degree from University of Akron Wayne College in 1976.   She had worked at the Wayne County Court House and for Kennedy, Cicconetti, Knowlton Law Firm and for Blake Stone and Brian and Brian Law Firm.
She was a life-long member of the Shreve United Methodist Church and had served as the Church treasurer for the past 20 years.   She loved serving her church and was a dedicated Sunday school teacher for 25 years.
She loved spending time with her family, reading, cheering on Triway sports and she loved the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Indians and her dogs and cats.
Karen will be deeply missed by her husband of 36 years, her children, Jennifer and Rian Carlton of Wooster; a brother, Gerry (Nancy) Brown of Wooster, brother & sister-in-law, Jim and Patty Carlton of Ft. Lauderdale; nieces and nephews, Sheryl (Steve) Ellcessor, Wendy (Steve) Jennings, Ron (Karen) Brown, Jamie Carlton, Jason Carlton and great-nieces and great-nephews, Mackenzie, Chase, Rory, Isabella and Alex.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her in-laws.
Friends will be received at the Shreve United Methodist Church, 430 N. Main St., Shreve on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 4-8:00 p.m.
Services will be held at the church on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev ™s. Michael Grant and Dennis Rinehart officiating.   Private family burial will be held.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.
