WOOSTER – Larry D. Funk, 78, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 27th, 2020.
Larry is survived by his daughters, Julie (James) Becker and Jodi (Tim) Dever, and a son, Jim Funk; grandsons, Garrett and Grant Dever; and sisters, Pauline Sloan, Shirley Gilbert and Sue Selvage.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Joanne.
Larry was born June 24th, 1941 and raised near New Pittsburg, OH. He graduated from Northwestern High school. After high school Larry started his own milk hauling service. His business grew into L.D. Funk and Son Trucking serving multiple states and transporting various commodities for almost 60 years. Larry loved his interactions with the many farmers he served. Not one to be idle for long, Larry was always ready to travel, for his business, with his family or to visit friends. He had an incredible gift for conversation.
He proudly served his country with the Army National Guard.
Larry and Joanne raised their family near Lattasburg and later moved to their farm outside New Pittsburg. When not tending to his business, Larry was happiest spending time with his family or his many friends. He loved attending his grandson ™s school events and never missed their sale day at the Wayne County fair. In recent years, he could often be found enjoying breakfast or dinner out with his friends or playing the lottery. His children and grandchildren will miss his stories, sense of humor and spending time with him.
Private family calling hours will be held on Thursday and family services will be held on Friday.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.   Burial will be in the New Pittsburg Cemetery.
