LaVaun was born September 5,1921 in Big Prairie to Albert H. and Laura (McDowell) Glasgo, graduated from Nashville H.S., and married her life mate Dean E. Clark on May 29, 1942. He died February 5, 1989. She resided in Smithville 64 years before moving to The Inn At Medina last fall.
She was a living testimony to the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ, whom she faithfully served each day of her life. Over the span of her years in this world, she, along with her husband, was active in a wide spectrum of activities and ministries at St. Paul. She worked with a close group of friends at the Smithville Post Office, opened her home to many foster children, provided loving day care to numerous little ones, volunteered over 30 years at Smithville Western Care Center, served the needs of others through Hospice and Stephen Ministries, and was very active in nursing home visitation throughout the area. The recipients of her visits bestowed the affectionate title of Cookie Lady upon her, as she regularly stopped by with a treat, caring words, and a prayer.
Her kindness and graciousness extended to others in the community as she was quick to visit those in need of comfort and encouragement -often bringing them a loaf of her delectable homemade bread and jam. Coming to her home most certainly included sitting down at her kitchen table for a cup of tea and warm hospitality. She freely shared her love of the Lord with all, and literally spent hours daily seeking to know and understand Him through the reading of the Word. What great comfort it is to her family to know she is now experiencing eternal joy in the very presence of her Savior.
She is survived by her children who feel privileged to have had her as their mother: Rita D. (John) Gasser of Medina, Holly A. (David) Kistler of Centerville OH, and Gary G. (Diane) Clark of Wooster. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Andrea Williams, Kelly Clark, Carrie Clark, Jennifer Schmidt, Kirsten Forshew, Rachel Murray, Matthew Gasser, Courtney Petiprin, & Josilyn Gullifer; 15 great-grandchildren, and dearly loved brother, Roland Glasgo, of Birmingham AL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Dean and son, Ronald Dean, as well as brothers Marvin, Brookes, and Sheldon (Max) Glasgo.
Mom lived simply, loved generously, cared deeply, and spoke kindly. With gratitude and thanksgiving, we rejoice in her life.
