Lester H. Pittman, Jr., 68, of Smithville died on Friday, September 18, 2020 at his home.
He was born July 19 1952 in Alliance to Lester H. Sr. and Pauline (Kirby) Pittman. In 2002 he married Leslie Kaser, who survives.
Lester had been a self-employed automobile painting technician for over 30 years. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era and was a member of the Orrville American Legion. He was an avid fisherman and loved working on cars and especially classic cars.
Along with his wife, Lester is survived by his children John Pittman of N.C., Heather (Tim) Rodi of Apple Creek and Cody (Brooklyn) Pittman of Orrville; grandchildren Kera Kiwi Pittman, Evan Rodi, Liberty Pittman, Isabella Rodi, Camden Pittman and Amelia Pittman; brothers Jim (Sue) Pittman of FL and Richard (Phyllis) Pittman of Willoughby and sister-in-law Marilyn Pittman of Smithville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Larry Pittman.
There will be no calling hours or services.

A sad time for all of us. My condolences to all of Les’s family and friends. To me, Les has always been Denny. I met Larry in May and Denny was born in July. Larry (age 15) called the hospital and told his Mom he wanted her to name the baby Denny. She had already named him Lester, after his Dad. He was Denny to all of us until he was in high school when he decided he would rather be called Les. Even though everyone else begin calling him Les, I just had to call him Denny. I think back to the cute little guy I held on my lap in my formal as Larry and I we’re getting our pictures taken before going to the Junior Senior Banquet (now Prom). I saw my Denny grow up to become a man, a father, a grandfather. Denny, with a life too short.

Les will alway be “Denny” to me. That’s how I was introduced to him some 45 yrs ago when Dick and i met. I loved having big family Christmases at our homes. Then the family got so big we had to get a hall. Denny was such a sweet guy. So nice to everyone. We will miss you. But we know you are looking down at us with Larry and your mom dad. My deepest condolences to Leslie, Johnny, Heather, Cody and all his beautiful grandchildren. God Bless you all. ❤️
I want to Express my condolences to Denny’s (Les) family. He’ll always be my cousin Denny. Weloss contact some times ago but I’m sure he’ll be missed by many. Our loss is God’s gain. Prayers for the whole family.
