Lois Douglass Treece, 96, of Wooster died Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Wayne County Care Center.  
She was born February 23, 1922 in Wooster to James Lavergne and Elizabeth Hume Douglass.   She graduated from Wooster High School in 1940.
As a teenager she cared for children and did house work for Dr. Warden Sprowls, then worked in his office after graduating.   During World War II, she worked for United Telephone and Freedlander ™s remaining at Freedlander ™s part time while raising her children.   In 1956, she went to work at the Probate Court then in 1959 went to Harold K. Hitchcock, Attorney at Law office as a secretary and legal assistant until her retirement in 1993.   She also worked as a Child Advocate for Children ™s Services.  
She had studied music with Lucille Lawrence, played piano for Wayne County Schools Orchestra at the Memorial Hall on South Bever St. with Harry Young.   She was a member of First Baptist Church, formerly Bethany Baptist Church, where she had been the Children ™s Superintendent.   She was also a Sunday School Teacher and the Organist for Bethany then First Baptist Church beginning in 1945.   She also was the organist and choir director at Apple Creek United Methodist Church, choir director at Oak Chapel United Methodist Church.   She volunteered as a Gray Lady at Apple Creek Development Center, a Pink Lady at Wooster Community Hospital and in the evenings at Gruter Foundation.   She taught stitchery, helped care for elderly clients and volunteered her musical talents on Thursday evenings at the Meals Together program at the Wooster United Methodist Church.  
Lois is survived by her daughter Barbara (John) Anderson of Oberlin, 12 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren and two special friends Sherry Gerber and Gloria Mackey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters Cassandra Lyons and Roberta Taylor and a brother Ellsworth Douglass.
In accordance with Lois ™ wishes, there will be no calling hours or public services.   A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Wooster Cemetery.
