WOOSTER – LonGene E AYRES passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2010.
He was born to Clifton and Opal (Sayre) Ayres on February 28, 1927 in Charleston, WV. Lon was a graduate of the University of Charleston and received a Masters Degree from Marshall University in Huntington, WV. He was employed as a consultant for The Psychological Corporation based in San Antonio, TX, and on retiring worked for the J.C. Penney Company in Wooster.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene, daughter, Lynne (Jerry) Frye and 3 grandsons, Adam, Seth and Reece Frye. Also surviving is an aunt, Edith Sayre Massie of Charleston, WV.
Lon had lived for 71 years with diabetes mellitus having developed the disease when he was 12 years old. In 2000, he was recognized by both the Joslin Clinic and Eli Lilly Company with medals for surviving over 50 years with diabetes.
At the request of the family, there will be no calling hours. A private family burial will be held.
McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.
