WOOSTER “ LuAnn E. Smith, 64, of Wooster passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 following a brief period of declining health.
She was born the youngest of three daughters to Paul A. and Rosa Fern (nee Lingo) Mellinger on August 25, 1956 in Wooster.   She graduated from Wooster High School in the class of 1974.
She worked at Country Kitchen and after earning an Associate ™s Degree in Accounting she became Office Manager for Dr. Ghazarian until his retirement.   She also worked in Buehler ™s Bakery and most recently McDonalds.
LuAnn is survived by her son Cody Smith of Wooster; sisters Ardenna Hurt of Wooster and June Hites (Bruce Archdeacon) of Dayton; grandchildren Kayden Mellinger and Kurstyn Pagniano, Cayde, Paisley and Isabella Rose Smith and special friend Scott Stephens; nieces and nephews David and Steve Hurt of Dothan, Alabama and Tonya (Layne) and Sydney Skidmore of Centerville, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Brandi Denae Mellinger (who passed away in 2014 following a lifelong battle with cystic fibrosis), her parents, brother-in-law Jack Hurt and niece Stacie Hites Campbell.
LuAnn loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them whenever possible.   She had many friends and four legged family members (both dogs and cats).   She fiercely fought numerous diseases during her lifetime and was a 13 year survivor of breast cancer.
Friends will be received 2 hours prior to the noon service on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.   Masks are required and social distancing will be observed.   Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.

  2. RIP in piece my childhood friend. We lived right besides each other and I ok never forget the fun we had and sometimes the trouble we got into.
    Spread those wings and find Brandi and give her a hug for me. I’ll meet you later

  4. My sincere condolences to family and friends, I was a neighbor and classmate to LuAnn. I too was a neighbor of the Mellingers. LuAnn’s mom was the crossing guard at Bowman and Beall for school kids crossing,no Tomfullery there. I met LuAnn years ago at Kindergym with her granddaughter, I with my daughter. She had a gleam about her and seemed very happy. I’m sorry.

  6. i dont know where to start we just talked not long ago this totally brks my heart you where not only a bestfriend. but we were sisters you kept me safe wayyyy back when i was 16 and a run away i helped you raise brandi and learned her theropies and meds we had alot of good laughs and cries i remember when when hungout with steppenwolf at the akron agora you helped me thru my first pregnancy your with lou lou tomassitti now and brandi both my big and lil lou are no longer here with me and it hurts my heart hug both of them for me and your mom i always liked her rip lil one i love you see you on the other side
