WOOSTER – Marion E STRATER, 89, of Wooster passed away Thursday, October 29 in West View Manor Nursing Home.
She was born August 1, 1920 in Whitewater, WI, daughter of Alan W. and Ruby Beardsley U’Ren. She married Jack Strater in 1944. He died September 1, 2004.
She was a graduate of Lakewood High School and attended Ohio Wesleyan University. She retired as Assistant Director of Publications from the College of Wooster.
Marion was an active member of the Wooster United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Mary Martha Circle, Bible Study Group, the Meals Together Program, a member of the Bell Choir, was the accompanist and director of the Children’s Choir for 48 years.
She was a member of the Newcomer’s Club, Mothers Club, English Club, The Eastern Star and several bridge clubs. She was also a volunteer for the Right to Read Program at Parkview Elementary School. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, music and playing bridge.
Surviving are daughter, Sheryl (Robert) Schirmer of Bluffton, a brother, Alan C. (Martha) U’Ren of Petaluma, CA, several nieces & nephews and her cat Kyla.
In addition to her husband, Marion was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Jean Pinkham.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Sunday, November 1, 2009 from 3-5:00 P.M.
Services will be held at Wooster United Methodist Church on Monday, November 2, 2009 at 11:00 AM with the Revs. Larry Black and Diane Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Wooster Cemetery.
