WOOSTER – Martha P. YOUNG, 101, of Wooster, died Sunday, December 21, 2008 in in Smithville Western Care Center.
She was born March 10, 1907 in Sandy Lake, PA, daughter of Harry and Ella McCullough Parshall.
She had worked for Westinghouse during WWII and as a secretary at the High School in West Middlesex, PA. She served as a church visitor for the church her husband, Ralph Young pastored in his retirement. She was a member of the Travelers Club, COW retirees and the Conjockey Club..
Surviving are her children Eleen (Robert L.) Gilkey of Grove City, PA, Joan (Harmon) Fennell of W. Middlesex, PA, Donna Gilkey of Wooster, Step-Daughters, Patricia Young, Judith Young and Kathleen Hothem all of Wooster, 4 Grandchildren, 12 Step-Grandchildren, 5 Great-Grandchildren, 18 Step-Great-Grandchildren, 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren, 14 Step-Great-Great-Grandchildren.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ralph Young, in 1989 whom she married December 27, 1968, her first husband, Ralph S. Gilkey in 1960; a son Harry Bud Gilkey and a grandson Brad Gilkey, brothers Samuel and Edward Parshall.
Services will be held Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, West Middlesex, PA. Interment will follow in the Haywood Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster, on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 from 3-5:00 P.M.
