Mary Ann Wheeler Kobilarcik, age 89 passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 9, 2021 in Wooster, Ohio.    Mary Ann was born May 2, 1931 in Akron, Ohio.    She was the oldest daughter of Mary and Henry Wheeler.    As a young woman, Mary Ann graduated from the Akron City Hospital School of Nursing. In 1950 she met the joy of her life, Albert, on a blind date and they were married for sixty years.    After raising six children, Mary Ann resumed her nursing career when at the age of 38, attended classes at the College of Wooster to update her professional nursing license. She served as a nurse at the Wooster Community Hospital for 26 years.    She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Wooster.
While Mary Ann was actively involved in numerous community initiatives and projects, she was best known as Mrs. Santa Claus to all of Wooster, co-hosting the Christmas In Motion display for over twenty-five years. She particularly enjoyed when Wooster’s Ida Sue School made their yearly visits to the display for their own private tour.   While Albert greeted families outside viewing the Christmas display, Mary Ann took it upon herself to make sure everybody invited into their home left with a full hand, stomach and heart.
Mary Ann made it a focus of her life to always give to others; her favorite place was with her family whether hosting large gatherings at her home, celebrating with extended family at Thanksgiving or serving as the inspiration for the Christmas display.    In her heart no person was ever left out.
She will be deeply missed by her children:    Mary Lou Silverman of Wooster, Bud (Beth) of Wooster, Karen Kobilarcik of Wooster, Ed (Nancy) of Alexandria, VA, Janice (Rod) Constable of Mount Eaton, OH and Ken (Alona) of Shanghai, China; and her grandchildren: Meg (Troy Wilcox), Annie, David, Logan, Dustin, TJ, Tim, Chris, Matthew, Patrick and Kenneth; her great-grandchildren, Adam, Brevin and Maria; siblings, Henry Jr. œSonny (Theresa) Wheeler and Margaret (Vince) Winslow along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; her son-in-law, Jeff Silverman and her parents.
Mary Ann never stopped being a nurse, caring for people and their health.   Therefore, so that everyone remains safe during Covid-19, there will be no calling hours
Due to Covid-19, private family services will be livestreamed on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM on the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home Facebook page.   Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery.

  9. I have so many fond memories of visiting with Uncle Albert and Aunt Mary Ann at their beautiful home in Wooster. Aunt Mary Ann was always so very quick to ensure that you were welcomed with a smile, and love. I don’t think I ever saw her mad, or sad, or anything other than one of the most pleasant and loving human beings I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. My heart and condolences go out to all the Kobilarcsik’s and Silverman’s, who I know must be incredibly saddened by their loss. I love you Aunt Mary Ann. -JP

  29. Dear Mary Lou, Buddy, Karen, Eddie, Janice and Kenny ~ You must always hold on to the memories of the great time in which you grew up. Your parents were so typical of that era, so never forget how much they loved you all, even though none of us entered the world with an instruction manual in our little hands. Childhood in those days was so much more fun than any kids ever experienced before those years or since. Your lives will always be as enriched as they were then, if you’ll just always remember how lucky you were to have the parents that you had. Truly believe that “Santa” and “Mrs. Claus” have been restored to health, and have been reunited in their forever home ~ Heaven.
