WOOSTER “ Mary M. Abney, 95, of Wooster went home to be with her Lord and Savior Friday morning, May 15, 2020 at the Wayne Co. Care Center that she called home for eight years with declining health.
She was born in Taylor Mines, Kentucky to James and Georgia Parks on November 5, 1924.   She married Charles Abney on April 12, 1945 in Hartford, Kentucky.   He passed away on December 23, 2010.
Mary was a homemaker and a wonderful Pastor ™s wife.   She also worked at Head Start for many years.   Working with the children wasn ™t a job for her, she loved them all.   Her greatest accomplishment was being a loving wife, mother and grandmother.   She had a smile that would warm your heart.   Mary enjoyed going to the activities at the Care Center, especially the music and Church services.   The staff at the Care Center will definitely miss her singing.
She leaves behind a loving daughter Joan (Tom) Green; two granddaughters Amy (Chris) Candalaria of Los Angeles and Stacie (Matt) Moore of Platteville, CO; a sister Helen (Charles) Franks of Wooster, a brother Chester Parks of Millersburg and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by siblings Evelyn Daniel, Clifford Parks and Roy Parks
Due to the COVID-19, a private family service will be held at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.   Entombment will be the Sherwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Wayne Co. Care Center for the excellent and loving care they gave Mary the last eight years and to Ohio ™s Hospice LifeCare for all of their care given to Mary.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer ™s Assoc., Greater East Ohio Chapter, 408 9th St., SW, Ste. 3400, Canton, OH 44707 or the Wayne Co. Care Center Auxiliary, 876 S. Geyer Chapel Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
My favorite verse for my mom is: Proverbs 31:10-31.   Her favorite scripture was John 3:16 œFor God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Mom was a prayer warrior! Bob Mitchell, a longtime family friend, minister of the Gospel and someone that Mary prayed into the Kingdom on November 21, 1971 at Nold Ave. Baptist Church where her husband, Charles, was the Pastor will have the service.
