Wooster -Minnie S. Patterson 92, departed this life on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at the Brenn Field Nursing Center in Orrville, Ohio.
She was born on July 30, 1915 in Hardinsburg, Kentucky to the late Albert and Geneva Board Sutton. Mrs. Patterson was united in marriage to Gilbert Grayson Patterson who predeceased her .
Her professional career began when she became an employee of the Federal Government in Washington, D.C. where she was employed for more than 40 years.
An active community volunteer and a parent who understood the importance of family, Mrs. Patterson and her husband supported the many activities of their young children. Her sons, Keith Withrow died in a freak accident and Gilbert Gary succumbed to cancer .
Mrs. Patterson leaves to mom her passing a sister, Flossie Richardson, of Orrville, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Francis Sutton (brother John, deceased) of Oberlin, Ohio
and her caregiver niece, Barbara Jean Caffie. Her baby sister Azalea Johnson is also deceased.
In addition, survivors include a grandson, Gilbert Grayson Tray Patterson III, United States Navy; godchild, Sheila Williams of Miami, Florida; niece, Geri Stewart of Austin, Texas; nephews, Ted Johnson of New York City; Albert and Sam Paul of Oberlin, Ohio and niece Hazel also of Oberlin and many other family and friends in Wooster and Washington, D.C.
Services will be held on Sunday, February 24 at McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home located at 216 East Larwill Street in Wooster. Calling hours are 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Services begin at 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the Hospice & Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County, 2525 Back Orrville Road, Wooster, OH 44691.
Mrs. Patterson will be interned with her husband and sons in Washington, D.C.
