Miriam Ruth Stern Shafer passed away peacefully on February 25th. Miriam was an incredibly devoted wife, a loving mother and a cherished grandmother.
Miriam was born on September 30th, 1930 in Belaire Ohio. She met her husband, Berman Shafer, at Ohio State University. She graduated from Hunter College in Manhattan when Berman was stationed in the Army in a teaching post. Berman and Miriam settled in Wooster Ohio, and were both very active in the community and members of Knesseth Israel Temple.
Miriam was an avid golfer and a great bridge player. But it was her family that was the center of her life. Her unconditional love for her family and steadfast loyalty to them were always a source of strength and support which will be forever missed.
Miriam was predeceased from her husband, Berman Shafer and her daughter, Dana Shafer, her brother, Herold Stern and her parents, Adolph and Anna Stern. She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Perkins, granddaughter, Kailey Perkins, and her sister, Sylvia Selfman and niece, Naomi Selfman.
A short service will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at 12Noon in Wooster Cemetery with Cantor Beth Friedman-Romell officiating
Masks are required and social distancing will be observed.
