WOOSTER – Odella Reichert, 95, died Thursday evening at the Apostolic Christian Home.
A daughter of the late William and Clara Dintamin Firestone, Odella was born September 2, 1914 and was married to Kenneth Reichert for 56 years. He died on March 17, 1997.
She graduated from Ashland College and had attended the Ohio State University. She taught at Chester High School and Congress Jr. High. While there, she taught home economics, English, and physical education. Odella was a life long member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in New Pittsburg where she was a choir director and active in Lutheran Church Women and the Altar Guild. Odella enjoyed gardening and especially her flowers. She was in the Se-Gar Club, the Isaac Walton League and a member of the D.A.R. and the Wayne Co. Retired Teachers Assn.
Surviving are her children Sam (Gloria) Reichert of Brunswick and Sally (Scott) Donaldson of Bellville; four grandchildren, Brent (Amy) Reichert, Amy (Shawn) Brown, Jennifer (Tim) Jablonski and Trevor (Cyndi) Donaldson and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters Mary Taylor, Betty Reichert and Marquerite Baker.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by a brother Chester Firestone and a sister Naomi Firestone Kinney.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 7, 2010 from 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 P.M.at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster and 1 hour prior to the funeral service at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 9451 Ashland Road, Wooster on Monday, February 8 at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Mel Kirk officiating. Burial will be in the New Pittsburg Cemetery.
