WOOSTER – Philip M. Schrock, 64 of Wooster went to his heavenly home, March 3, 2010 at OSU Medical Center in Columbus.
He was born September 3, 1945 to Glen and Arlene Schrock in Wooster.
He was a graduate of Smithville High School, Goshen College and a Masters degree from St. Francis College, Ft. Wayne. He was formerly a teacher & coach at West Noble Schools in Indiana, Wooster City and West Holmes. He was a member of the Wooster City Schools Board of Education from 1990-1993. Presently he was employed by College Hills Honda and The Pines Golf Club.
Surviving are his wife, Rayene, whom he married in 1971, daughter Sheila (Sly) Slaughter, of Wooster, a son, Jason of Athens and 3 adorable grandchildren who he dearly loved, Tynia, Amari and Braylon. Also surviving are siblings Nancy Conrad of San Diego, Dave Gerber of Hesston, Kansas, Dan Gerber of Chicago, Jim Schrock of Sidney, OH, Dwight Gerber of Elkhart, IN and Amy Kauffman of Toledo, many nieces and nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two step-fathers.
He was a member of Orrville Mennonite Church and enjoyed being a part of his Sunday School class. He was an avid sports fan, a die-hard Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeye follower. He was a Wayne County Official for more than 25 years, officiating basketball and football. He played summer baseball for the Wayne County Pioneers in the late 60’s and also played slow-pitch softball for 30 years with various teams including the Smithville Merchants and the Wooster McDonalds. He enjoyed the outdoors and being with family and friends including the Saturday Fun-Makers Bowling League and the Couples Golf League at the Pines. He was a member of the Wooster Elks and Moose Clubs.
Friends will be received on Sunday, March 7, 2010 from 5-8:00 P.M. at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 8, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Orrville Mennonite Church, 1305 W. Market St., Orrville with the Rev. Bill Seymour officiating. A private family burial will be held.
