DALTON – Philip Dalrymple, known as Phil, was a friend to everyone. Phil had a kind, inclusive personality and enjoyed making friends with strangers.
Phil was born in Mount Vernon, Ohio on November 15, 1940 and passed away peacefully, with his son Steven holding his hand, on September 5, 2016 at Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Dalton, Ohio.
Phil attended Wooster High School then served in the US Navy as a Second Class Petty Officer from February 1958 to January 1962.  He married Letitia Lynn Saurer on April 16, 1963 in the Manti Utah LDS Temple.  Phil suffered two debilitating industrial accidents as a young man, and these events permanently altered his life, but he did not complain about the pain or the limitations he experienced. Phil was well known for his sincere warmth and gratitude toward all.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph M. and Dorothy L. (Ross) Dalrymple, and by a grandson, Andrew Joseph Dalrymple.
Philip is survived by his wife, Letitia (Saurer) Dalrymple of Ogden UT, and children, Douglas (Neesha) Dalrymple of West Jordan UT, Joanne (Stephen) Weaver of Morgan UT, Dianne (Kenneth) Esplin of Ridgefield WA, Philip Steven (Crystal) Dalrymple of Wooster OH, by his fourteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and by his siblings, Dan (Carol) Dalrymple of Wooster OH, and Lois (Jim) Hanger of Howie-in-the-Hills, FL.
Memorial Services for Philip Dalrymple will be held at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster, Ohio on Tuesday, September 13, 2016. Calling hours will be from 10:00-11:00 am, followed by Memorial Service.  Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio at 1:30 pm.
