Phyllis Jeanne Braucher, 96, of Wooster died on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at her home.
She was born June 7, 1925 in Smithville to Adrian and Zoe Fetzer Shisler.   In 1973, she married Russell Braucher.   He preceded her in death in 1989.
Phyllis was a graduate of Smithville High School in 1943, where she was a cheerleader and received a scholarship to Wittenberg.   She had worked in the offices of Wayne County National Bank, Wooster Lumber, was a secretary at Regal Ware, and then worked for the U.S. Post Office, then as a secretary for Pauline Briggs and for Fouche and Associates.   Phyllis was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was an active member and sang in the choir.   She volunteered at hospice for over 10 years and had also volunteered at Wooster Community Hospital.   Phyllis enjoyed gardening and could grow roses like no other.   She won many blue ribbons at the Wayne County Fair for her quilts and flowers.
She is survived by her children Lynn (Linda) Ratzel and Jay Ratzel both of Wooster; grandchildren Jamie Holtkamp and Tim (Alex Becker) Ratzel; great grandchildren Destinee Fetter, Logan and Allison Studer, Lennon and Alden Holtkamp and Reese Ratzel; great-grandchildren Kenzington and Kohen Fetter and her feline companion Baby.
Along with her husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter Kimberly Ratzel; grandson-in-law Adam Holtkamp and siblings Wilson Shisler, Wilbur Shisler, Mary Jane Becker, Paul Shisler and twins Eldo Shisler and Ellen King.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 from 11-12Noon at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.
Private family services will be held.   Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice and all those who cared for Phyllis over the years and a special thanks to Mary Schaefer for her guidance and help and to Tracy Wooley for all of her kindness and help.

  1. We were sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. I remember always sitting in church across the isle from your mom and she would always speak to us. Later years she enjoyed the bible study of Women of the World She was there almost every Thursday. We are sorry we can not attend calling hours due to previous appointments, but we hope memories will give you comfort.
