WOOSTER – R. Dale Miller, 77, of Wooster passed away on January 6, 2018 at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

He was born July 29, 1940 in Holmesville, the son of Earthel and Florence Livingston Miller.  He married  Noreen Lang on April 28, 1962 in Valley City, Ohio.  She survives.

He was a 1959 graduate of Smithville High School and had been a manager at Youngs IGA North for 24 years, he was an Administrative Assistant at the Wayne Co. Sheriff’s Department for 16 years and had worked for McClintock Electric for 10 years.  He had also served with the Ohio National Guard for 7 years.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 94, the Wooster Exchange Club, Past member of the Wayne Co. Kidney Foundation and Trustee, a member of Salem Lutheran Church Council, a Deacon and Trustee and a member of Buckeye and National Sheriffs Assoc., Wooster/Madisonburg Evening Lions Club, Past member of the Wooster 20/30 Club.  He had attended the Michigan State University School of Criminal Justice, Ohio State Highway Patrol (Administration in Supervision), Youngstown State University (Street Survival), Attorney Generals Multi-Cultural Law Enforcement Conference-Annually and over 2000 hours Law Enforcement Training.

He enjoyed tinkering and fixing things and loved to stay busy. He was a fair minded and understanding person who was always willing to lend a helping hand. His kindness and concern for people and his wonderful smile will be missed.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Noreen, is a daughter, Christine (Rick) Hemmann of Wooster; his grandchildren who were the highlight of his life Michael, Nathan and Faith Hemmann. A sister, Judy (Dennis) Ault of Smithville and his special God daughter, Mariah Glascock White.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael W. Miller in 1997 and brothers, William and Robert Miller.

The family will receive friends following a 2:00 p.m. memorial service on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with Pastor Sharon Brown officiating.

Always enjoyed Dale's smile and talking with him while I was on the Sheriff's Dept and when I would see him in town. Will miss him as I know you will Roger Miller

I am so sorry that Uncle Dale is no longer with us. He will be greatly missed. I wish really bad that Gary, Tommy and I could be there for his memorial. I just pray that you all find comfort and peace in all the precious memories you have with him. We love you all.

So glad I had the opportunity to meet Dale and get to know him a little. He was such a sweet and kind man. Always helpful and always had a kind word to say. Always took the time to ask how I was doing and what was new in my life. He will be missed dearly. Love and prayers.

Wanted to express my deepest sympathy. Dale was a wonderful person. I remember Neil and Dale always had a great time when they got together. We will miss him but how he suffered he’s in a much better place now. Just remember all the good times you had with him and all the wonderful times he showed everybody else. RIP!!!

Cherish the Memories! I wish I had known him as he was the husband of my 6th cousin. My prayers to Noreen and Christine at this sad time.

So sorry for your loss, Dale was so good and respected by my parents, Alfred & Edna Ernst, They truly loved him, he was very encouraging when I got into Law enforcement, it was such an honor to know him. What can you say about a MAN who made such a difference to every person he met. He was a Blessing to everyone who met him, I know my Dad, Mom and I were Blessed.

We remember Dale as a wonderful person who we will miss. His High School Class '59 is sending a memorial contribution to Life Care Hospice in his honor.
