WOOSTER “ R. Dale Miller, 77, of Wooster passed away on January 6, 2018 at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster after a courageous battle with Parkinson ™s Disease.
He was born July 29, 1940 in Holmesville, the son of Earthel and Florence Livingston Miller.   He married   Noreen Lang on April 28, 1962 in Valley City, Ohio.   She survives.
He was a 1959 graduate of Smithville High School and had been a manager at Youngs IGA North for 24 years, he was an Administrative Assistant at the Wayne Co. Sheriff ™s Department for 16 years and had worked for McClintock Electric for 10 years.   He had also served with the Ohio National Guard for 7 years.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 94, the Wooster Exchange Club, Past member of the Wayne Co. Kidney Foundation and Trustee, a member of Salem Lutheran Church Council, a Deacon and Trustee and a member of Buckeye and National Sheriffs Assoc., Wooster/Madisonburg Evening Lions Club, Past member of the Wooster 20/30 Club.   He had attended the Michigan State University School of Criminal Justice, Ohio State Highway Patrol (Administration in Supervision), Youngstown State University (Street Survival), Attorney Generals Multi-Cultural Law Enforcement Conference-Annually and over 2000 hours Law Enforcement Training.
He enjoyed tinkering and fixing things and loved to stay busy. He was a fair minded and understanding person who was always willing to lend a helping hand. His kindness and concern for people and his wonderful smile will be missed.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Noreen, is a daughter, Christine (Rick) Hemmann of Wooster; his grandchildren who were the highlight of his life Michael, Nathan and Faith Hemmann. A sister, Judy (Dennis) Ault of Smithville and his special God daughter, Mariah Glascock White.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael W. Miller in 1997 and brothers, William and Robert Miller.
The family will receive friends following a 2:00 p.m. memorial service on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with Pastor Sharon Brown officiating.
