Reuben J. Butler 91 , of Wooster died Thursday December 31, 2009 in Shady Lawn Nursing Home.
Graveside services will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday January 5th 2010 in Reedsburg Cemetery with Reverend Larry Black officiating. There will be no calling hours.
He was born on November 23, 1918 in Chester Township to Reuben Franklin and Effie Mae Landis Butler. On May 3, 1943 he married Eva Rastetter who preceded him in death in 1974.
Reuben graduated from Jeromesville High School and later graduated from Wooster Business College with a degree in accounting. He retired as an accountant from Crown Steel where he had worked many years.
He was a member of the Wooster United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years. He started the Maranatha Gospel Band in the early 80?s which continued through the late 90?s. They played at many nursing homes, churches, detention centers and many years for the Wayne County Home chicken Barbecue.
Along with his wife Reuben was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers Harold and Dwight.. He is survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wooster United Methodist Church 243 N. Market St. Wooster, Ohio 44691 in his memory. McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
