Rev. Diane K. Johnson

Birth Date:
Tuesday, May 27, 1958
Date of Passing:
Saturday, December 25, 2021

Rev. Diane Kay Johnson passed away peacefully in her home surrounded with love from her family.

Diane was a well respected member of the clergy; she served as a Deacon in the United Methodist Church for many years which was one of her greatest accomplishments.  Diane was a shoulder to lean on, a person with wise words of advice, always neutral a s so supportive of all in need of a gentle word.

Full of dignity and grace, Diane learned to overcome a variety of obstacles related to a lifelong illness of mitochondrial myopathy. With her husband, Wesley of 43 years by her side, they found ways to make the best of life.  Together they conquered all that came their way and persevered each time.  There was nothing that was impossible as long as they walked the righteous path of the Lord together.

Her favorite time in the world was serving the Lord as Deacon in the United Methodist Church.  She worked so hard and was ordained and she loved what she did whether it was children’s moments, preaching her sermons, singing her favorite hymn or having the honor of leading a beautiful couple into marriage.  So many accomplishments which included raising their 4 children.

Diane and Wes worked together to raise their 4 children while continuing to build an amazing future for the family.  They were a great and admirable team and their children couldn’t have been more blessed with such a great role model.  The love she had was always ready and waiting, truly unconditional, always for her children and for anyone in need.

Diane found pride in living life with God in her heart and soul, following his path and having faith in His word.  Truly one of the finest warriors in her God’s army.

She is survived by her children Andrew (Jennifer) Johnson of Jacksonville, Melissa Johnson of Wooster, Richard (Stephanie) Johnson of Medina and Elizabeth (Jerome Straughter) Johnson of Youngstown; grandchildren Hayden, Jerome, Jr., Taylor Grace, Bryson, Brynn, Alayna, Chief Wesley and Aaliyah; mother Norma Alcorn; sister Carole Watson; nieces Erin and Lily; nephew John.

Diane was preceded in death by her dear husband, Wesley Jay Johnson; father Richard Winters; brother Richard Winters, Jr.; sister Connie Winters; mother and father-in-law Frank and Reba Johnson.

Condolences

Betsy I am so sorry for your loss

Andrew, Melissa, Rick, Betsy and Norma,
Thank you for loving Diane. She was a wonderful friend and the best deacon we've known.

Diane was a beautiful soul to all who crossed her path. What a blessing she was to her friends and family. She will be missed by all.

So sorry for your loss. Diane’s sermons and her bible study classes were the best. She was a special person and spiritual leader.

I am so sorry for your loss of your mother. Diane and I were high school classmates. I live in NC but through Facebook, we remained friends. Diane loved her family and shared posts with us. The antics of Louie made us laugh! God bless all of you in the coming days & weeks & months.

Sending my condolences, thoughts and prayers. When AJ shared his family background and his sweet mom and all she meant to him, it was a blessing. The respect and love within this family is truly amazing. Please know you all are in my prayers.

Betsy, Melissa, Andrew & Richard...
Our hearts are saddened to hear of Diane's passing. She was such a blessing to each person she encountered! What a gift she was to WUMC. John & I consider it a privilege to have been friends with her and your dad.....we can't help but think that Wes was waiting in line with Jesus to give her a "welcome home" hug!! Our sympathies & love to each of you!!
Jane & John and family

Sending my condolences to Diane’s family. I loved the book she wrote about her seeing eye dog and it’s “view from under the pew.” Many of my grandchildren have that book!, and Taylor Leighty is one of them. My special condolences to Taylor.
