WOOSTER “ Richard Kenneth Yockey, 83, of Wooster passed away on Monday, February 19, 2018 at his home.
He was born May 13, 1934 in Shreve, the son of Shannon F. and Alta I. Zaring Yockey.   His father died when he was 13 years old and he became the caretaker of his family.   He married Cynthia Wright on August 22, 1970.   She survives.
He had been a tool and Die maker at Akron Brass and had previously worked for Diamonite in Shreve.   Richard was a member of the Swinging Stars square dancing group in Wadsworth, worked a 30 acre farm in his retirement, loved baseball and the outdoors.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Jennifer Yockey, of Wooster, Krista Brooks and Darwin Yockey; step-son, Michael (Robin) Pastercek of Rittman; grandchildren, Amanda Huddleston, Shane, Crystal and Alyssa Pastercek and a sister-in-law, Dora Lee Yockey of Wooster.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Charles Shannon Yockey and a brother Forest Yockey.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.   The family will greet friends following the service.
