Robert Alois Trares, 89, of Wooster died on Tuesday, March 09, 2021 at Ohio s Hospice LifeCare.
He was born May 22, 1931 in Suffield to Robert Sr., and Edith Miller Trares.
Robert graduated from St. Mary High School in 1949 and then attended John Carroll University. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1950 and joined the 4th degree in 1963 and of the American Legion and was former member of the Elks Lodge. He was owner of Bob Trares Construction where he built and remodeled many homes in the Akron area. Robert was an avid bowler and golfer. He got a hole in one golfing and bowled a 299 because that darn 300 pin slid, but wouldn t go down.
He is survived by his wife, Marcelline Meyer Grassman, children Renee (Paul) Crow of Copley, John (Analisa) Trares of Columbus and Kathy (Bob) Serdinak of Hermitage, PA; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; step-daughters Cheryl Mower of Poca, WV, Charlene (Craig) Zimmerman of Jeromesville, Mary Jo (Randy) Yackley of Livingston, TX, Marjean Kearney of Wooster, Denise Leppla Mooresville, NC, Deanne (Tim) Williams of Marietta, and Rita (Jim) Vogel of Wooster; step-foster son Donnie (Kathy) Chiesa of Seville; 26 step-grandchildren, 31 step-great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Pogany Trares, his parents; step-son-in-law Buz Mower and sisters Rita Burtcher and Bernie Stalter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 1:00 PM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster with Rev. Stephen Moran and Rev. Rich Samide officiating. The service will also be livestreamed on the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home s Facebook page. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, 2643 Waterloo Rd., Mogadore.
Masks are required and social distancing will be observed.
There will be no calling hours.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

I’m so sorry to see that Bob passed away, however I have thought about him many times over the years. We were good buddies as teenagers, in fact we dated a couple of times. I loved his family and often wondered where he was. His sister Bernie was married to my cousin, so we had a double connection. He was a GREAT guy and I’m so sorry for your loss. I know you must have lots of GREAT memories, so God Bless the entire family.
My sister in law lived in Wooster and was buried in the same church just a few years ago.
I am so thankful that God blessed our family with Papa Bob as our stepdad. He was a wonderfully kind, compassionate and loving man who loved Jesus. I am so appreciative of the time we shared together as a blended family. I am sure the angels rejoiced as Papa finished the race God had set before him here on earth! I pray he’s enjoying being face to face with Jesus and walking the “streets of gold” with Him. I also pray that we all will hear “well done my good and faithful servant” when our time comes to join our Lord in heaven!
To Wall of you who loved and cared for my friend Bob my heart goes out to all of you on his passing. Such a special person will leave a void none could ever replace. It was a joy to work with him at the lumberyard. Just wish we had kept in touch. My love and prayers are with you at this sad time. But now he has a new home and it has to be a mansion! So sorry to hear of my cousin Bob’s passing. He was a gentle and kind man and a faithful Catholic. Many fond memories of dinners together on holidays at my parents farm (Cletus and Cathryn Miller) along with his sisters Rita and Bernie and our entire families. Memories live on. So very sorry to hear of my cousin Bob’s passing. He was a hard-working, kind and faithful Catholic man. I have fond memories of holiday dinners with Bob, his sisters Rita and Bernie and their parents at my parent’s farm (Cletus and Cathryn Miller) and all our family. What fun we had as kids! I was saddened to hear of Uncle Bob’s passing. He was a quiet, gentle, religious, sweet man. He always had a ready smile & a twinkle in his eyes. Heaven gained a special man who is soaring with the angels. So sorry for your loss.
So sorry for your loss of Bob, Marcy. Our condolences to you and all your family. We always enjoyed Bob, such a kind man. Always enjoyed playing golf with him.
