Robert C. McGarvey of Wooster, died unexpectedly May 25th at The Cleveland Clinic of a cerebral hemorrhage.
Born June 27, 1926 in Irvona, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Alvin and Viola McGarvey, and was married to Kitty Graham McGarvey of Clearfield, PA for 61 years.
He was a member of the Wooster United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and was a member of numerous golf leagues that played courses throughout the area.
He proudly served his country in World War II in the CB?s (Construction Battalion) branch of the U.S. Navy in the Pacific theater. He was a member of the American Legion Post, DuBois, Pa.
A graduate of Penn State University, he spent his entire working career with the General Electric Company in Schenectady, NY and Cleveland, Ohio. After retirement he moved back to Pennsylvania and lived at Treasure Lake, DuBois, PA for ten years.
Surviving are his wife, Kitty Graham McGarvey, daughters Kay S. Raplenovich, West Salem, OH and Slovenia and Judi L. Fischer, Vermilion, OH, sister Ernestine Griel, N. Canton,OH four grandchildren, Aaron Rapljenovic, Arcata, CA, Sondra Fischer, Guinea, Africa, Scott Fischer, Arcata, Ca and Katie Fischer, Vermilion, OH.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Alvin and Viola McGarvey, and sister Doris Jean Kim.
Visitation will be held at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home 216 Larwill Street, Wooster, OH, Thursday May, 28 from 5-7pm.
Robert McGarvey will be transported to Crown Crest Memorial Park in Clearfield, Pennsylvania for burial in the family plot with his parents at 1:00 on Saturday May 30th A memorial service will be held at the Wooster United Methodist Church 243 Market St., Wooster, OH at 7.00pm on Monday June 1st .
The family requests that donations be made to The Salvation Army and the Wooster United Methodist Church Choir fund.
