WOOSTER “ Robert C. Seiwert, 92, of Wooster died Friday, May 3, at West View Healthy Living. He was born March 20, 1921 in Akron, the son of William Peter and Margaret Wagner Seiwert. He married Jean Secrest Porter in 1943. She preceded him in death on December 6, 1998. Robert had a background in engineering. He was the senior engineer with the Vought-Sikorsky Division of Goodyear Aircraft and Executive Vice President for a group of companies in Orrville. In 1960 he formed his own group of companies, Ohio Metalsmiths, which were principal suppliers of equipment to the telephone industry. These companies later merged into Scott & Fetzer. He also served as Chairman of the Central Trust Company of Wayne County. He served on the WCCF Board since 1978. He helped found The Greater Wayne County Foundation (later the Wayne County Community Foundation) and used his financial expertise to oversee both the operation of the Foundation and the investment of its assets. He served as Executive Director from 1978 to 1996. For more than fifteen years, he donated all of the operating costs of the Foundation, which greatly helped its growth. From 1996 to the present, he served as a Trustee representing Wooster. Surviving are children and their spouses, Robert C. and Kitty Seiwert of Severna Park, MD and Nancy and Tom Williams of Hingham, MA; grandchildren, Bob, Tim and his wife, Sabrina Seiwert, Megan and Tom Williams, Carrie Williams Schlegel and her husband John and a great grandson, Jack Schlegel. Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Thursday evening, May 9th from 6-8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, May 10th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster. Private family burial will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wayne Co. Community Foundation, 517 N. Market St., Wooster, OH 44691 or to Hospice & Palliative Care of Greater Wayne Co., 2525 Back Orrville Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
