WOOSTER “ Robert O. œHasty  Wertenberger, 89, of Wooster passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at West View Healthy Living.
He was born January 30, 1928 in Wooster, the son of George E. and Irene L. Fisher Wertenberger.   He married F. Maye Wepler on February 19, 1953.   She survives.
He retired in 1986 as the District Underwriting Manager for Westfield Insurance after 32 years of service.   He was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ.   He was a past member and secretary of the 20/30 Club, a volunteer at People to People Ministries, a member of the Wooster Elks, the NRA and American Legion Post 68 of Wooster.
He enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting and volunteering.
Robert proudly served his country with the US Army during the Korean War.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Pamela (Mark) Schlosser of Cuyahoga Falls, Patti (Michael) Milligan of Wooster and Roberta (Ron) Shaffer of Dalton; grandchildren, Lauren (Joe) Sherman, Chris (Sarah) Schlosser, Matthew (Sarah) Schlosser, Kristin Milligan, Kaitlin Milligan, Kelcey McCormack and Carly McCormack; a great grandchild, Carson Schlosser and a brother William C. Wertenberger of Wooster.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Dr. George F. Wertenberger and Richard Wertenberger.  
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Sunday, July 30, 2017 from 4-6:00 p.m. with an Elks memorial service at 3:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Kevan Franklin officiating.   Entombment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
