WOOSTER – Robert was born March 29, 1944 in Ashland the son of Clifford D and Ethel Weltmer Johnson and married Donna McKnight on November 28, 1975. She survives.
Robert was a sales representative for Pioneer H-Bred International since 1971, taking over the business from his father Clifford Johnson who began it in 1937. Robert conscientiously served his customers and took great pride in his work. He was a life-long member of the Mohican Church of the Brethren. Robert’s great faith and trust in God sustained and strengthened him during his illness.
Robert thoroughly enjoyed bicycling on the Rails to Trails, his favorite was the trail from Mt. Vernon to Danville,. He also liked to spend time fishing and traveling in the United States and abroad..
Surviving in addition to his wife, are his sons, Scott (Ashley) Johnson and Todd Johnson both of Wooster; his brother, Stan (Deb) Johnson of Wooster and a sister, Betty (Ezra) Chupp of Pueblo, CO, Nieces, Lisa Johnson Gaddis, Joni Johnson, Wendy Chupp Gossett and Regina Chupp Parkes and a nephew, Craig Chupp.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard Johnson.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Thursday evening from 5-8:00 p.m.
Services will be held Friday, September 11, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mohican Church of the Brethren, 7759 N. Elyria Road, West Salem with Pastor Paul Bartholomew officiating. Burial will be in the Fairhaven Cemetery.
