WOOSTER “ Robert W. Olds, Sr. of Wooster passed away peacefully November 2, 2016 at LifeCare Hospice.
He was born January 14, 1924, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Cloyd Scoville and Ruth Beatrice Olds.   A graduate of Howland High School, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree from Kent State University, and was a member of Delta Sigma Pi. He proudly served in the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific as a Radar and Electronics Technician.    When he returned from World War II, he did graduate work at Case Western Reserve that trained him for a long career with the Department of Defense. Living in Warren, Ohio, he held a variety of positions including industrial and quality control specialist.  
Upon retirement Robert and his wife Mary spent winters in Lake Worth, Florida and traveled extensively. They visited parks and museums in all 50 states and explored places like the Great Wall of China and the Australian Outback.   He and his wife were also volunteers at the Arapahoe National Forest in Colorado for over six years.
Robert was a member of the Champion Presbyterian Church while living in both Ohio and Florida. In Florida, he was active in the Lake Worth Presbyterian Church. He was an elder and trustee at both churches.   He and his wife were both very involved in the Ohio Club while living in Florida.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth, and his parents Cloyd and Beatrice.   He will be greatly missed by his son Dr. Robert Willard (Ann) Olds, daughter Cheryl Louise (Jim) Rastetter, and grandchildren James Robert Rastetter, Robert Eugene (Kathryn) Rastetter & Morgan Elizabeth Ann Olds.
Military Services will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville, November 11 at 11:30AM.   Reverend Christopher Statz will officiate
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to Oak Chapel Methodist Church, 4203 West Old Lincoln Way, Wooster, Ohio 44691, Life Care Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd, Wooster, OH 44691 or the Church of your choice.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.
