WOOSTER “ Roy D. Bowers, 92, of Wooster went home to be with his wife in time for Christmas on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at his home.
He was born August 22, 1928 in Kidron the son of Frank and Ethel Conrad Bowers.   He married Doris M. Ickes on February 11, 1956.   She preceded him in death on October 20, 2020.
Roy was a lifelong farmer and had worked for the National Farmer ™s Organization for over 50 years.   He and his wife, Doris, received the NFO Farmer of the Year Award in 1997.   He was a longtime member of the Bethel United Methodist Church and Heartland Covenant.   Roy had most recently been attending The Church of the Saviour.   He was a volunteer with the Pregnancy Care Center.
He is survived by his daughters Nancy Musser and Ann (Mike) Leighty both of Wooster; grandchildren Crystal (Ed) Musser Stutz, Courtney (Steve) Musser Huszia, Michelle Leighty and Marcy Leighty and great-grandchildren Bella and Lynnley Stutz; siblings Wilbur (Alverta) Bowers, Doyle Bowers, Earl (Audrey) Bowers, Paul (Juanita) Bowers, Jim (Judy) Bowers, Duane (Janet) Bowers and a sister-in-law Sandy Bowers.
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Ellen Horst and Walter Bowers and a sister-in-law Thelma Bowers.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 5-8:00 p.m. at The Church of the Saviour, 480 Fry Road Wooster.   Masks are required and social distancing will be observed.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of the Saviour with Pastor Bill Beery officiating.   Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

  2. Our sympathy to the Bowers family. Roy and Doris have a special place in our hearts. We have many fond memories of evening at their house, sticky corn was always a favorite!

  4. We’ve known them for many years from Heartland Christian Center Church, a wonderful, sweet couple!! They served as greeters. I’m glad they are together with Jesus!! Our thoughts and prayers are for the family. Roy and Doris will be missed!!! God Bless!!!
