WOOSTER – Roy L DUDLEY, 69, of Wooster died at his home on Friday, November 21, 2008 surrounded by his family after a very courageous 8 long years battle with lung cancer.
Superman was born February 1, 1939 in Mt. Carmel, IL, son of T. Lee and Mary Moore Dudley.
He had eight siblings: Janetta Pearson of Indiana, Randola Weisenberger of Illinois, Richard Dudley of Illinois, Victor Dudley of Tenessee, J.R. Dudley of Missouri and Linda Bunting of Missouri.
He retired in 2004 from Gerstenslager Company after 18 years of service and prior to that had worked in the oil fields for many years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR with good friend and family member Roger Bevington. He liked to fish and play poker with family and friends. Roy loved spending time with good friends Kenny Wolford and Jerry Mortensen. He was also a longtime member of the Wooster Eagles. He was a carefree, very strong willed man and was loved and admired by many. He will be very sadly missed. R.I.P. Cuddly Dudley we love you!
Roy had a beautiful wife, Dorothy Dot Mae Hill for over 40 years. He also had eight children: Curtis Dudley of IL, Tonya Dudley of Texas, Julie Dudley of TX, Bud Garver of Shreve, Brenda Tipple of Moreland, John Garver, Fred Garver, and Michele Herold all of Wooster; 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Monday, November 24, 2008 from 6-8:00 P.M.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. Harold Ross officiating. Interment will follow in the Moreland Cemetery.
Those who wish may make contributions to the funeral home to help defray expenses.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Ricky Henderson, a sister Laurabelle and a brother Tom.
