WOOSTER – Ruth I BARNES, 81, of Wooster passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2009 in Glendora Health Care Center.
She was born September 23, 1928 in Loudonville, the daughter of Edward and Anna Tschantz Derr.
She was a graduate of Akron City Nursing School and had been a registered nurse at Wooster Community Hospital and the Wooster Clinic retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Mother’s Club of Wooster, volunteered at the Red Cross and was a girl scout leader for many years. Ruth loved gardening, traveling and nature.
She leaves with memories of a loving husband, and children, a life enriched by family and good friends.
Surviving are her children Peggy (John) Schneider of Wooster, Connie Barnes of Canal Fulton and Raymond (Sherry) Barnes of Wadsworth, grandchildren Jennifer (Ali Salih) Schneider of Columbus, Adam Schneider of Cleveland, Allen Schneider of Wooster and Hannah Barnes of Wadsworth.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clarence R. Bud Barnes on July 9, 2009 whom she married November 15, 1950; brothers, Carl and Harold Derr, sisters, Lula Koegler and Nellie Crow.
Friends will be received one hour prior to the 11:00 A.M. service at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 with Hospice Chaplain Sharon Carson officiating. Burial will follow in the Wooster Cemetery.
