Ruth Y. Switzer, 88, of Wooster died on Sunday, October 06, 2019 at her home following a period of declining health surrounded by her family.
She was born June 15, 1931 in Akron to William W. and Dorothy H. Ryneer Franks.   In March 8, 1952, she married Raymond L. œBud  Switzer.   He preceded her in death in 1998.
Ruth was a homemaker and had retired in 1996 from the Buehler ™s Milltown Meat Department.   She was a member of the Highland Church of God.   She was also a charter member of the Chatterettes Homemakers Club.   Ruth was a talented seamstress making wedding and attendant gowns and the cheerleading uniforms at Northwestern.   She enjoyed baking cookies, gardening, entertaining, watching the Indians and Cavs and being a 4-H advisor.
She is survived by her children Jill McClure of Kidron and Kenneth (Tina) Switzer of Wooster; grandchildren Mark (Augie) McClure, Julie (Terry) Pierce, Sr., Katie (Kevin) Kent, Becky McClure, Brandon (Amanda) Switzer, Josh Switzer, Lexie Switzer and Alyssa (Marc) Hill; great-grandchildren Kaylee Conaway, Quincy Pratt, Zoe Pierce, P.J. Pierce, Danina McClure and Jason McClure; and siblings Larry Franks of Ashland, Earl Franks of Wooster, Janet Reed of Danville, VA and Evelyn Boreman of Wooster.
Along with her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and siblings William and Harry Edward Franks, Dorothy Barnes, Thelma Bertsch and June Barkman.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with Pastor Mark McCord officiating.   Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.

  3. We were so sorry to hear of Ruth’s passing. She will always be remembered as a sweet, kind woman. As a kid, my parents and Ray and Ruth would play cards on a Saturday night. Ken, my brothers, Mike and Tom, and I would stay up late playing games or running around outside. Ruth always had a smile, a hug and all the warmth in the world! Our sincerest condolences on her passing.
