WOOSTER – William Phelan PARRIS, 91, of Wooster, passed away Monday, December 14, 2009 in Wooster Community Hospital.
He was born April 8, 1918 in Tennessee, son of James and Ethel Seymour Parris.
He had worked for Republic Steel as a machine operator and was a member of the American Legion in New Philadelphia. Served his country with the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Surviving are his wife, Marjorie Lois Rippel Parris, to whom he had been married 68 years; sons, Fred (Patsy) Parris of Killbuck and James (Susan) Parris of Wooster; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren. He moved to Wooster in 2006 from New Philadelphia.
William was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Thurman Parris, sisters, Jean Toth and Betty Limbaugh.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of the Cross United Methodist Church on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 12:00 Noon with the Rev. Jeff Parris officiating. Interment will be in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in New Philadelphia.
Friends will be received after the service at the church.
